RESPONDING TO THE PRESENT NEED
As we move deeper into the summer months, I thought I would take this opportunity to highlight the wonderful work our partnership with Providence Medical Group is accomplishing.
As many of you already know, several years ago we began this partnership due a need Providence had identified in one of its medical clinics.
In the Providence Gateway Clinic surveys showed that many of the families that came to the clinic were food insecure. The clinic serves a large population of underserved community members including many from the BIPOC community. This prompted Providence to seek out a pantry that would partner with them to imbed a pantry directly into the clinic.
After interviewing several pantries, they felt our values aligned great with their goals. Their idea of embedding a full pantry into a medical clinic was innovative and groundbreaking. We were very excited and moved forward with the help and support of Oregon Food Bank, who assisted in providing extra food for the program, as well as a local software company, Full, who helps provide the technology for staff to order their needed food online, and even generate bi-weekly reports.
We are now into our second year of this pilot program and wanted to share the latest update newsletter put out by Providence. I hope you enjoy reading it and fully understand the fact that it is because of your contributions and support we can expand into areas like these. Becoming a monthly partner with us will continue to support our goal of ensuring no child goes to bed hungry in our community. Please visit pobcpantry.com to donate.
Thank you again and enjoy this beautiful summer, it will be gone before we know it.
